Genesis 26 is a case study on all the factors involved in enjoying abundance during recession. The basis of God’s blessings is the blessing of the covenant of Abraham. Deuteronomy 8:18 says God gives us the power to get wealth to establish His covenant. Daniel was described as a man with the spirit of excellence - ‘an excellent spirit was found in him.’ (Daniel 6:3-5). He was described as faithful, without error or fault, and the secret was found in his connection with his God. God has plans for His children to succeed in their life on earth. Both the definition and demonstration of the word 'success' have been influenced by the fallen nature of man, so much so, that many sincere believers have been tempted to surrender any desire to a worldly spirit to enjoy success. On the other hand so many have accepted the worldly definition of it and their pursuit has led to a strangulation of their spiritual walk with God.
