The quality of our lifestyle plays a major role in the way and manner in which we can minister the power of God. There is a connection between our lifestyle choice and the steady flow of God's power in our lives. When we read about how many men and women of old walked in the power of God, we seldom see the quality of their obedience and the other prices they paid to experience the power flowing in their lives. Yes, they do have a calling and yes, God was willing to use them to fulfil His purposes, but they paid the price none the less. Our present lifestyle makes it almost impossible to pay any meaningful price. We are so absorbed in many legitimate things that it seems ridiculous to think of adding any price to what we are already paying, just to make ends meet or keep up with...

Life is full of lessons. Life has its pains and joys. We all love to minimise the pain and extend the joys. Some of the pains and joys in life are short-lived and some are long-lived. It is in our best interest to learn how to make the pains short-lived and the joys long-lived. There are two major pains in life; the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. When circumstances beyond our control inflict pains on us then we call on human endurance to handle such. Life is full of its own type of drama. Many believe life is a form of drama wherein the scripts have been written for us to act out, while others believe we are capable of writing out our own scripts. Another belief is that there are scripts written indeed but the creature needs to be developed to fulfil the script written. Whatever belief system is...

SEVEN SECRETS TO GOAL ACHIEVEMENT Write your goal down. The act of writing it reinforces the goals in your mind. Align your goals. Your goals should complement or support each other. When you write your list of goals, take a moment to think how pursuing each one could impact the others. Set Performance goals to reach your Outcome goals. Performance goals are a commitment to yourself to do something and do it consistently until you reach your vision. For instance one needs to make 20-40 calls a week to encourage partners in their support if a particular Outcome goal (amount in figures) is to be reached. Attendance (in church for instance) is an outcome goal but connecting and calling folks will be the Performance goals. Embrace failure. To overcome the fear of making a mistake, many do not set goals. Do not be afraid of mistakes or failure. Every mistake contains valuable lessons in...

In Mentoring and Discipleship, I have had to train people in cultivating the right orientation, lifestyle and perspectives to issues and phases of life. Basically we need to be poised in life to learn lessons (the right ones, of course) and develop a lifestyle of applying God’s Word to our lives as we choose obedience above convenience. Then when we face conflicts, we need to seek God’s perspective on the matter at hand. These are on-going lessons that we need to stay in fellowship with regularly so that our lives can constantly be experiencing ‘course corrections’ as we go on to pursue and fulfil our God-given destinies. CONFLICTS - A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN OUR GROWTH PROCESS In our pursuit of God and our knowledge of the application of scriptures, we face conflicts at times. We need to navigate through these and still make progress in God. Many times it is our non-contextual...

God has plans for His children to succeed in their life on earth. Both the definition and demonstration of the word 'success' have been influenced by the fallen nature of man, so much so, that many sincere believers have been tempted to surrender any desire to a worldly spirit to enjoy success. On the other hand so many have accepted the worldly definition of it and their pursuit has led to a strangulation of their spiritual walk with God. Many have taken Godly principles and left (the person of) God out of the equation and achieved some results. Principles work for whoever puts them to work. This has led to many paying half-hearted attention to these principles and those who do pay full attention may do it at the expense of their devotion or consecration to God. The implication of all this is that certain good principles are left in the...

Many believe that leadership has to do with being at the top of an organization. This is not true. Leadership has to start with a simple desire to make life a little better for someone else. It is the ability to influence others for their good and the good of the society at large. You don’t need a title to be a leader. Many problems in the world today are opportunities for leaders to step in and make a difference. Sadly there are not many leaders prepared for the challenges we face. You do not need a title to operate leadership principles. Everyone’s level of leadership will impact the level of success they can enjoy in their lives. Leadership principles are life transforming principles that will enhance your life and the lives of people around you. Everyone needs to be developing in areas like time management, goal setting, and cultivating work ethics that...

2 Corinthians 2:11 To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions. John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). Ephesians 6:10-18 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God’s whole armour [the armour of a heavy- armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of...

One of the reasons why it is difficult for many to get sold out on God, is because deep inside our male psyche is a desire to be celebrated as one of our esteemed celebrities. Years ago I had this question rise in my heart as I stayed in fellowship with the Lord during one of those times of “heart-to-heart” discussions. “Would you rather obey Me or be celebrated”. My answer was “I thought obedience will lead to being celebrated”. The answer came back to me,” Obedience will not necessarily lead to celebration, you will need to choose. If you choose obedience, you will leave your celebration in My hands”. Obedience to God needs to be with the right motive. The right motive should be love. Love for God, that is. It should also be with the right focus-Christ should be the focus. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who...

God always has greatness in store for us, but our definition of greatness is different from His. That is why we need a renewal of our minds, which is knowing God’s mind (WORD) concerning everything in life. God created us (man) with the ability to carry pictures, images, and gave us the gift of imagination. He uses this to give us a hope and a future (our destiny) i.e. what He has in mind for us, which includes greatness. The problem is not with the pictures, images or vision we carry in our minds, it is with our interpretation of them and trying to work them out ourselves independent of God. A glance at Joseph’s life concerning his dreams makes this clear. Before we examine Joseph's dreams to glean the principles, it will be pertinent to note some facts about God's destiny for us. 1. We must note that God is Sovereign...

Isaiah 53:3-6,  “He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him. Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of...
