Daniel was described as a man with the spirit of excellence - ‘an excellent spirit was found in him.’ (Daniel 6:3-5). He was described as faithful, without error or fault, and the secret was found in his connection with his God. With that kind of spirit they could not stop him from succeeding or rising to the fullness of his potential unless they cut him off from his God-connection. In Acts 24:13-21, from the Amplified translation, we read how Paul, in his own defence, talks about his relationship with God: ’and therefore I always exercise and discipline myself (mortifying my body, deadening my carnal affections, bodily appetites, and worldly desires, endeavouring in all respects) to have a clear conscience, void of offence toward God and men’ (verse 16). To have an excellent spirit demands that we walk in wisdom, knowing how to deal rightly with people, and maintain a relationship with...

This is the end or (bottom line) of the matter: fear God and keep His commandments. The two ingredients: the fear of God and keeping His commandments (obedience) are vital to our study of stewardship as they form the foundation or the basis for the operations for our study subject. The fear of God is the worshipful reverence for God that leads us not only to depart from sin (as it does not please God) but it engenders an attitude of worship and love for God. Obedience to God implies doing what God wants with the right motives and focus. The purpose, principles and practise of stewardship are very vital to our life’s achievements. God’s expectation of mankind can be summarised by the word: Stewardship. Faithfulness in stewardship is the pass mark for promotion and increase. To be a good steward of anything you must know the purpose of the thing....

My heart yearns for the fullness of God to be manifested in human lives. Paul prayed in the book of Ephesians that they may be filled with the fullness of God. It is obvious from scripture that God wants to see the revelation of His glory in the lives of members of His family on earth. There have been progressive revelations of His plans and purposes throughout church history especially as we study the restoration of truth, offices and understandings. I believe we should be moving towards the finishing line now: Coming into the full manifestation of the sons of God. There have been many streams of knowledge as well as movements in the Body of Christ. We have ‘tabernacled’ around one stream of knowledge or the other, thinking that it was the fullness, only to realise it was a part; not the full picture. Let us take in the full picture so...

This is one of the secret treasures of the people of old who walked with God in their times and had very successful outcomes in their obedience and response to God's dealings in their lives. Our study is an attempt to unravel some of these secrets to enhance our own walk with God; a study on holiness which is made possible through a lifestyle of separation unto God, for His purposes not to be hindered in our lives. It also includes an understanding of quality decisions called consecration.  A quality decision is a decision based on God's Word from which there is no changing of mind due to pressure. The enemy has taken advantage of our humanity's tendency to laziness, entertainment, carelessness and generally pandering towards ease. He (Satan) has combined this well with disappointment and hurts to breed strife and disconnections among the saints of God.  All of these were designed to...

The quality of our lifestyle plays a major role in the way and manner in which we can minister the power of God. There is a connection between our lifestyle choice and the steady flow of God's power in our lives. When we read about how many men and women of old walked in the power of God, we seldom see the quality of their obedience and the other prices they paid to experience the power flowing in their lives. Yes, they do have a calling and yes, God was willing to use them to fulfil His purposes, but they paid the price none the less. Our present lifestyle makes it almost impossible to pay any meaningful price. We are so absorbed in many legitimate things that it seems ridiculous to think of adding any price to what we are already paying, just to make ends meet or keep up with...

Life is full of lessons. Life has its pains and joys. We all love to minimise the pain and extend the joys. Some of the pains and joys in life are short-lived and some are long-lived. It is in our best interest to learn how to make the pains short-lived and the joys long-lived. There are two major pains in life; the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. When circumstances beyond our control inflict pains on us then we call on human endurance to handle such. Life is full of its own type of drama. Many believe life is a form of drama wherein the scripts have been written for us to act out, while others believe we are capable of writing out our own scripts. Another belief is that there are scripts written indeed but the creature needs to be developed to fulfil the script written. Whatever belief system is...

SEVEN SECRETS TO GOAL ACHIEVEMENT Write your goal down. The act of writing it reinforces the goals in your mind. Align your goals. Your goals should complement or support each other. When you write your list of goals, take a moment to think how pursuing each one could impact the others. Set Performance goals to reach your Outcome goals. Performance goals are a commitment to yourself to do something and do it consistently until you reach your vision. For instance one needs to make 20-40 calls a week to encourage partners in their support if a particular Outcome goal (amount in figures) is to be reached. Attendance (in church for instance) is an outcome goal but connecting and calling folks will be the Performance goals. Embrace failure. To overcome the fear of making a mistake, many do not set goals. Do not be afraid of mistakes or failure. Every mistake contains valuable lessons in...

In Mentoring and Discipleship, I have had to train people in cultivating the right orientation, lifestyle and perspectives to issues and phases of life. Basically we need to be poised in life to learn lessons (the right ones, of course) and develop a lifestyle of applying God’s Word to our lives as we choose obedience above convenience. Then when we face conflicts, we need to seek God’s perspective on the matter at hand. These are on-going lessons that we need to stay in fellowship with regularly so that our lives can constantly be experiencing ‘course corrections’ as we go on to pursue and fulfil our God-given destinies. CONFLICTS - A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN OUR GROWTH PROCESS In our pursuit of God and our knowledge of the application of scriptures, we face conflicts at times. We need to navigate through these and still make progress in God. Many times it is our non-contextual...

God has plans for His children to succeed in their life on earth. Both the definition and demonstration of the word 'success' have been influenced by the fallen nature of man, so much so, that many sincere believers have been tempted to surrender any desire to a worldly spirit to enjoy success. On the other hand so many have accepted the worldly definition of it and their pursuit has led to a strangulation of their spiritual walk with God. Many have taken Godly principles and left (the person of) God out of the equation and achieved some results. Principles work for whoever puts them to work. This has led to many paying half-hearted attention to these principles and those who do pay full attention may do it at the expense of their devotion or consecration to God. The implication of all this is that certain good principles are left in the...

Many believe that leadership has to do with being at the top of an organization. This is not true. Leadership has to start with a simple desire to make life a little better for someone else. It is the ability to influence others for their good and the good of the society at large. You don’t need a title to be a leader. Many problems in the world today are opportunities for leaders to step in and make a difference. Sadly there are not many leaders prepared for the challenges we face. You do not need a title to operate leadership principles. Everyone’s level of leadership will impact the level of success they can enjoy in their lives. Leadership principles are life transforming principles that will enhance your life and the lives of people around you. Everyone needs to be developing in areas like time management, goal setting, and cultivating work ethics that...
