SOME LIFE LESSONS ABOUT DECEPTION No one is immune against deception. Deception is the gradual persuasion to believe a lie. Error is usually some truth taken out of its proper boundaries. The content of the heart affects the understanding and application of truth. The fact that deception has to do with a gradual persuasion, and truth itself sometimes has the element of a gradual unfolding, it means that, when the receiver is not poised to embrace a complete picture, there is every possibility that deception can trail anyone in pursuit of truth. There is a spirit of truth, an attitude of being teachable (meekness) and a willingness to accept truth and its demands of faith. All these need to characterise our lives for us to avoid deception. James, chapter one, has some things to say about deception. Being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer is one way...

SOME OF LIFE’S UNCHANGING LESSONS FOR LEADERS Life is full of lessons. Life has its pains and joys. We all love to minimise the pain and extend the joys. Some of the pains and joys in life are short-lived and some are long-lived. It is in our best interest to learn how to make the pains short-lived and the joys long-lived. There are two major pains in life; the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. When circumstances beyond our control inflict pains on us then we call on human endurance to handle such. Life is full of its own type of drama. Many believe life is a form of drama wherein the scripts have been written for us to act out, while others believe we are capable of writing out our own scripts. Another belief is that there are scripts written indeed but the creature needs to be developed...

Experiencing Victory as a New Creation (Part 2)   Three key aspects are important in our understanding and experiencing victory in our Christian faith. They are:   Our identity in Christ; this includes our position, our authority and the consciousness we build into our lives. Who are we? How we see ourselves and how far have we allowed circumstances to define us. Our Conduct; this includes our behaviour, our service and our attitude. Do we operate in obedience, in compliance with God's Word, and are we consistent and faithful? With no hidden agendas? Our Capacity, this includes what levels we come into as a result of our consistency in carrying out our services and our consciousness of who we are and what we have. Capacity goes with responsibility. When we take responsibility we can develop capacity. This determines the levels of results we get. Callings are a product of capacity and function in...

Finishing Strong Dear Beloved, Our purposes in life include discovering our potentials, developing them and deploying them to benefit and add value to other human beings. We need to build healthy relationships, develop our own inner convictions and so build strength into our character. We need to learn the principles that govern different aspects of our lives and try to inculcate these into our everyday life. We need to build the right inner image, sow the right seeds and expect a bright future for ourselves and those around us. Looking around we can see that not many are finishing their journey in life in the strength that only God can provide. Many finish either ‘so-so’ or finish poorly. Records show only 1 out of 10 finishes strong. Will you be that one? God is not altogether responsible for how we finish; we are. The decisions we make is a function of the knowledge...

Genesis 1:26-27 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." God gave dominion to man (mankind) and the scripture clearly says "male and female created He them". God gave dominion to them both. They were not meant to dominate one another. God intended that they exercise authority through the release of their God given potentials. In doing so they would experience fulfilment whilst discovering, developing and deploying their gifts and talents within the context of their relationship with God and with one another. Their creation in Genesis...

This word integrity is from the root word Integer, which means whole number. The word has to do with wholeness, being true to God, to one’s self from one’s heart. There must be guiding principles for integrity to be real. Wholesome principles that are true and act as a grid through which events and circumstances in our lives are judged. It has to do with being just, right and truthful. A key example is found in Genesis 20:5-6 where a king who was told that Sarah was Abraham’s sister was planning to take her as his wife. God intervened in the matter and confronted the king for attempting to take another man’s wife. His reply was that he did what he did out of integrity of his heart and God said He kept him from sinning because he was doing it out of a heart of integrity. It is interesting to note...

“The earnest (heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” (James 5:16 Amplified Bible.) “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22). We have many promises in the Bible that help us develop confidence in the place of prayers as well as God’s willingness to hear and answer us when we pray. However, one of the unresolved issues in the lives of many Christians is the subject of unanswered prayers. I have heard people say God can say “yes”, “no” or “wait”. Is this true? There are many unanswered prayers in the lives of many believers. Some have no idea what God wants or what His plans are for their lives, so...

DISCIPLESHIP Ask Anonymous (A.S) Welcome to the all new 'Ask Anonymous!' Send in your questions to office@uk.fowm.org for Rev. Kola to answer, and your question may be featured here. Q: Dear sir, I get haunted by my past sin; how do I get rid of it? A: Dear Brother, Thank you for your question and by the grace of God this is the answer. The sins of the past haunting us is the work of the flesh, empowered by the demonic. What is sin? It is a transgression of God’s law or Word. It is the nature of the devil as well as the nature of the fallen man. When man fell, he took on the nature of satan. Sin is a nature. This nature manifests itself through the desires of the flesh. The desires of the flesh have been empowered by what the bible calls lusts of the flesh, lusts of the eyes and pride of life. These...
