Our human temperaments are characteristics and tendencies we are born with. They are by-products of the influence of the fallen nature inherited by us in the first Adam. They were originally wholesome but the fall affected them negatively, hence our temperaments need redemption too. Not only do we need redemption for our spirits, we need redemption for our souls and even issues in our lives need redemption. The redemption of our spirit is instantaneous but all other aspects of our humanity takes process to work out our redemption with time and our conscious participation. There are four basic temperaments our teachings often refer to - and while humans are not confined to any one temperament, we are usually identifiable by one or two of the four. We are not designed to be slaves of our temperaments rather we are to be conformed to the image of Christ as Paul, the Apostle teaches in Romans 8:29....

The champion/giant within us is our recreated human spirit, energised by the Holy Spirit of God bringing us into all that God has made available to us in Christ Jesus. We were made in the spirit image of God. Sin destroyed the picture and Christ has restored it. We now have two identities: our natural then our spiritual identities. In the battles of life, our spiritual identities play a more important role than the natural. This study is about cultivating the lifestyle that will give us victory on every aspect of our lives. Life is usually lived in more than one dimension. Let us lay the foundation for our new identity in Christ. 3 dimensions of Christ's death, burial and resurrection are: Divine Exchange; Divine Pattern; and the Revelation of the Divine love of God. These three relate to the personal aspect of our lives, the relational, and then our assignment in life. PERSONAL (Divine Exchange) We have...

[Continuation of 'Winning the Battle of the Mind'] 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV). For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Ezekiel 36:26-27. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 1. Think positive thoughts and stop negative ones in order to overcome depression. 2. Be God-minded. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV). Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.   Meditate on God and His works; fellowship with the Lord. Psalms 63:5-6 (KJV). My soul shall be satisfied as with...

[Continuation from 'Winning the Battle of the Mind'] We are engaged in a war; the enemy is Satan; the mind is the battle field; and the devil works diligently to set up strongholds in our minds. He does it through strategy and deceit, (well laid out plans and deliberate deceptions). He is in no hurry; he takes his time to work out his plans. We are to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself above the knowledge of the truth. God's word is truth. John 8:31-32 (KJV). Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Freedom comes through knowing and acting on the truth. Jesus Himself calls Himself The Truth. John 14:6-7 (KJV). Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the...

The role of the mind has either been undermined or completely misunderstood in our spiritual lives and effectively in every area of our lives. Some have no clues as per what is happening and others are so set in their ways that anyone not thinking like them is not correct. Romans 12:1-2 (KJV). I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations,...

There seems to be a 3-fold pattern for most things and issues involved in the things of God in the Bible. For example we see God revealing Himself as the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, each revealing a part of God’s nature and purpose in His processes for the human race. Each of His revealed identity captures something of His purpose and all three give a more accurate picture of God’s plans and purposes. The God of Abraham reveals the aspect of God as One who provides even in the most impossible situation. He is more than enough to do the impossible when we believe, have faith in His Word (like Abraham) and participate in His plans for our lives. The God of Isaac is the One who expects us to walk in submission and obedience. Isaac was revealed as one who was in subjection to his father and all...

Humility We have very wrong notions about this subject. (Please visit www.fowm.org to read up under our archives of publications for this subject). Humility like meekness is strength under control. (See the message on Brokenness). It is knowing who you are and not letting whatever you think you are affect the correct responses you should give to life's challenges. Whether it is in obeying God or dealing with issues or people. David's response to the challenge Goliath gave was a mark of humility as it demonstrated his dependence on God. When I put myself under the Lordship of Christ and humble myself, I will be teachable, and accountable to those who God has put in my life for that purpose. I will not be full of myself and my sense of pride in my achievements or abilities. I will demonstrate a dependence on God and a subjection to His will for my life....

The first indispensable quality of a leader according to John Maxwell, in his book, 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader, is Character. Character has to do with inner qualities. What a person is made of. Character in a leader inspires confidence in others. How a leader deals with the circumstances of life tells many things about his character. Crisis reveals character. According to John Maxwell, "adversity is a crossroad that makes a person choose one of two paths: character or compromise. Every time he chooses character, he becomes stronger, even if that choice brings negative consequences." He also says "the development of character is at the heart of our development not just as leaders, but as human beings. Action is the real indicator of character not just talk. Your character determines who you are. Who you are determines what you see. What you see determines what you do. Character is a choice! Leaders cannot rise above the...

SPEAKING AND EXPECTING GO HAND IN HAND   Mark 11:22-24 “And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly]. Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].”   According to the Greek dictionary, to be diligent implies to exert oneself, make every effort, be zealous, strain every nerve, and further the cause assiduously.   Those who believe have come to know His ways. He gives His Word! That is always the starting point.  Faith comes by hearing the word of God. We enter into the realities of His word as we praise and glorify God. We align...

UNDERSTANDING UNBELIEF!   Unbelief is a function of the thoughts we permit in our minds.  These thoughts hinder our acceptance, hence believing and receiving God's truth into our hearts.  This can be seen in the account of Jesus not being able to do mighty works because of their unbelief.   Mark 6:2-6 “And on the Sabbath He began to teach in the synagogue; and many who listened to Him were utterly astonished, saying, ‘Where did this Man acquire all this? What is the wisdom [the broad and full intelligence which has been] given to Him? What mighty works and exhibitions of power are wrought by His hands!’ Is not this the Carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here among us? And they took offence at Him and were hurt [that is, they disapproved of Him, and it hindered them from acknowledging...
