Developing the Mind of Christ

Developing the Mind of Christ

[Continuation of ‘Winning the Battle of the Mind’]

1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV). For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Ezekiel 36:26-27. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

  1. 1. Think positive thoughts and stop negative ones in order to overcome depression.
  2. 2. Be God-minded.

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV). Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Meditate on God and His works; fellowship with the Lord.

Psalms 63:5-6 (KJV). My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

  1. 3. Be ‘God -loves-me’ minded and fear not. Be righteousness-conscious not sin-conscious.

1 John 4:7-10 (KJV). Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:18-19 (KJV). There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

Romans 8:35-37 (KJV). Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV). For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  1. 4. Have an exhortative mind, uplifting others not pulling them down.

Ephesians 4:29-32 (KJV). Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

  1. Develop a thankful mind.

Hebrews 13:15-16 (KJV). By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

 Ephesians 5:18-20 (KJV). And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

  1. 6. Be word-minded.

James 1:21-25 (KJV).Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

John 5:38 (KJV). And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

This mind battle is a lifelong one. You are equipped for the battle through the knowledge of God’s Word and your determination to obey it in all areas of life. So identify your mind’s structures and begin to bring it into conformity to the mind of Christ. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you. Acting on the Word plays a major role in restructuring and renewing the mind. Counting it all joy, praising Him in the midst of trouble and letting the joy of the Lord be your strength, are all keys to restructuring the mind. You will draw strength and other resources through maintaining your joy.

Isaiah 12:1-5 (KJV). And in that day thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

Finally, as you identify the nature of a thought, you can tell the source of it. You then decide whether you will allow it to stay or you get rid of it. When God’s word dwells in you in abundance it will be easy to know what thoughts to allow in your mind. You can be victorious in every area of life!

Jesus is Lord
